Fall is here, and I'm updating my hair care routine to give my strands maximum protection against dehydration. We'll be increasing oil treatments, deep conditioning sessions, and protective styles to combat the wind and cold weather! Get the full scoop in my video!
Step 1: The Oil Bath!
With coconut oil, of course! My hair absolutely loves this oil! It will deeply nourish my hair, as it's one of the few oils that can penetrate the hair shaft. Leave it on for 30 minutes/1 hour, then go wash your hair with shampoo.
Step 2: The Deep Treatment!
With the wind and cold, my hair is very dry, so a simple mask left on for a few minutes isn't enough. I don't have a specific product on hand, so I'm choosing to make one myself with Indian powders.
- 2/3 tablespoons of Amla powder
- 2/3 tablespoons of Shikakai powder
- 2/3 tablespoons of Brahmi powder
The 3 powders combined will fight hair loss, promote hair growth, and strengthen it.
- A little glycerin (for hydration)
- 2/3 tablespoons of conditioner or mask
- and a little hot water depending on the desired texture.
- Apply to all your hair
- Leave on for 30 minutes or more and rinse
Step 3: LOC Method (Lotion, Oil, Cream )
After drying your hair, strand by strand, apply your lotion (water-based product), a vegetable oil of your choice, and a cream.
You can reverse the last 2 steps, it's the LCO Method (Lotion, Cream Oil), where you apply the cream before the oil. It's up to you!
